Soto Stasiun Tugu

This soto is quite famous, located in the parking area of the train station Tugu. Personally this is not my kind of soto sulung. It has meaty smell, maybe because the way it's prepared. The meat and broth are not cooked together. Soto with egg and one little rice is Rp.

Aman Jiwo restaurant

One of the best spot for an intimate lunch in Jogja. Spectacular view to Borobudur and surrounding area, nice ambiance and good food is the minimum that you can expect. On the picture is Kwe Tiao, one of many recommended dish.

Gule Kambing Bang Doel

Located on the intersection of North ring road with jalan Kaliurang, this is another busy warung kaki lima. Entering the place, you are prompted to select your favorites for your gule. This is so convenience because personally I try to reduce having Jeroan and I like the ribs. The taste is super authentic. You also must try their Nasi goreng kambing, price is very reasonable.

Nasi Goreng Ketandan (Non Halal)

Good food is like sugar for the ants, people smell it and will search for it where ever they are. Nasi goreng Ketandan is a sugar, a small warung that is packed at any time, usually it takes at least half an hour to get a seat. Andre, Budi and I were lucky, it was heavy rain that limits regular customers to only those with cars.

The portion is huge but because of the great taste, you will want some more. Suggested menu is Nasi goreng complete; with prawn, pork fat, 'brutu' or chicken ass. Oily but there is where the beauty lies.

Rp 17,000/portion.

Sop Sumsum Cak Noer

A fight in my head between taste and my health. Tasty food and healthy food are two separate things and they do not go a long together. This Sop, which is very tasty, consists of Sumsum and Jeroan which are all so fatty. Plus probably drops of MSGs as a bonus.
Having Sop Sumsum is the most convenient way to increase your cholesterols, tastefully. So if you are above 40 and golf is your only sport, don't go there too often.. Let your tongue suffer but live longer.. :)

Located at Jl Magelang, at a small gang after Sumber Baru motor. Sop komplit is Rp 13,000.

Indian Food Gajah Wong..

I was there again few days ago with friends from Australia. Tried something new, an Indian dishes which I forgot the name. It has meatballs in delicious Indian curry, plus rice and vegetables. A good food.

Iin tried Lontong Complete, very nice but its tough to compete with the one from Cafe Batu Jimbar at Sanur, Bali.

Bakmi Tiga Nyonya

Nice air-conditioned table-clothed well-designed chinese restaurant located just near the famous Tugu Jogja.

Awarded as Tattler's Indonesia Best Restaurant 2006 and 2007, we could feel the difference compared to other Chinese restaurants. Attention to detail, decor and well trained staff.

A friend told me to try their Bakmi and that's what I did today. I ordered Bakmi Oriental and the taste was amazingly good I have nothing left on the plate. Rp 17,000 is just perfect for sausages and prawn we get inside, and of course for the taste.

I have to go back to try other dishes on the menu, they all look nice.

RM Padang - Sederhana

The most favorites Padang food because of its taste, even if we compare it to the same chain RM Sederhana in Bali..

It was Iin's last meal in Jogja before leaving to Bali after 3 weeks holiday, a 'save the best for last' kinda thing.

Top qualities: big parking space, lots of seats to handle such a high turn over, quick service, delicious food (consistent!) and good price.

Ps: this one is not 24hour restaurant.

Assorted Seafood - Kemangi

A treat for sea food lover as you can enjoy prawn, squid and snapper with traditional Balinese sauce will melt your tongue with its richness. Comes with a bowl of rice and choices of sambals and krupuks. Very cheap price for a five stars restaurant.

Ledok Gebang

Want to find tranquility in the city of Yogya? Ledok Gebang is the answer. As you enter the gate you will see many bamboo huts spread around on the fish ponds in a valley. Perfect for family gate away as you can do fishing for your "catch of the day ". It's also a resto where you can enjoy Gurame or Nila dishes with choices of sambals that make your finger licking good. The gurame starts from Rp. 50.000.

Chin San Chinese Rest at Melia

Food are tasty; boneless duck and chicken cashew nut are a few that you must try. This nice Chinese ambiance and air-conditioned restaurant gives you flexibility in ordering small, medium or large portion of every dish.

Don't mix up the name with Sin Chan the naughty cartoon character.. :)

Soto Pak Marto

Another famous and must visit Soto in Jogja. Located in front of JEC, the place usually packed at anytime of the day. I came at 4pm and there were 50pax enjoying the beef Soto. The waiter only asks you what to drink, and the food is served in no time. No question about the taste, and you would go back anytime for this Rp 7,000 per portion Soto.
